I have been married to my husband Dan for over 22 years and we have 3 beautiful children. Our daughter Kayla is 17 in the 12th grade and our twin sons are 11 in the 6th grade.
We have 3 pets which all of them are very friendly. 2 dogs Scooby and Shadow and 1 cat Katie. Scooby and Shadow has been around daycare children since the time we brought them home as puppies. We got Katie as a kitten but she likes to stay away from everyone or atleast stay back and just look around. Scooby is 9 years old, Shadow is 5 years old and Katie is 10 years old.
I started providing care since October 1993. I provided care at three military bases, Dover AFB, Delaware, Fairchild AFB, Washington and Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. I became a state license provider in Box Elder, South Dakota in July 2005. In December 2007, I closed my business and moved to Delaware due to my husband retiring from the Air Force after 21 years and getting a job in Maryland. During that time we lived in Delaware I worked at a few daycare centers. I was a infant teacher at one center , a toddler teacher at 2 others. We moved back to Box Elder, South Dakota October 1, 2009 and opened my business as Little ABC Monkeys.
I have completed the Early Childhood Development modules (15 in all), that are required to do care on a military installation. I took a Child Care Class in High School for three (3) years, and worked at a few daycare centers. I have also completed three (3) home school courses, which are Child Day Care International Correspondence Schools, Early Childhood Education Stratford Career Institute and The Professional Child Day Care Program Professional Career Development Institute. I have my Child Development Associate Degree (CDA), I am a Level IV in South Dakota Pathways to Professional Development Career Lattice. I was awarded Provider of the Quarter for 1994 at Dover AFB, DE and Provider of the Year for 2004 at Ellsworth AFB, SD. I have an associate degree in K-12 Paraprofessional. I am attending college courses for a Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Special Ed. I had my National Association Family Child Care Certificate but it expired in 2006. I was in the process of renewing it when we moved. I will be renewing my NAFCC certificate in a few months when I get established. I must have and maintain Infant/Child CPR, and Standard First Aid and have at least six (6) hours of training a year.
